By Ledley Withenshaw

Wild Planet Hyper Dash provides hours of fun for the entire family. The game is listed for children ages 6 to 11, but children and adults of all ages find that this game gives them an opportunity to play together in a physical activity that also provides many learning opportunities.

The hand-held command control is very easy to hold. It has a grip that contains the micro-transmitter and receiver that speaks clearly and audibly. The disks also have transmitters and receivers so that when a disk is retrieved using the controller it can tell if the correct disk has been picked up. The five disks can be placed in areas up to one hundred feet from the controller. They may be hidden throughout a room or yard to make the game more exciting. The disks of the Wild Planet Hyper Dash game are brightly colored and have numbers clearly printed on them. They have transmitters and receivers built into them that link each disk to the controller.

There are several modes for playing. A child may easily select the individual play mode and the controller will keep time and score for retrieving the disks correctly. There is also a mode for pairs play. The controller keeps score for each player and the commands are given separately for players responding. The team mode allows up to eight people to play in a relay mode. The controller keeps score for teams or individuals in this mode. The Wild Planet Hyper Dash game provides players with the opportunity to be physically active while increasing their memory and educational skill levels. Parents find that playing this game together is a wonderful way to teach children about playing, learning, and working together.

For younger children learning their colors, or older children who need to increase their memory skills, level 1 provides this opportunity. Players must retrieve specifically colored disks identified by the controller. When the disks have been hidden a player may be commanded to find a yellow, blue, green, orange, or red disk and are timed as they retrieve them.

The second level of Wild Planet Hyper Dash provides uses the numbers one through five to teach number skills. Players must retrieve the disk that the controller identifies and receives points for getting the right disk. When the wrong disk is selected the controller tells the player what the number is that has been selected and what the number is that must be retrieved. This provides further assistance with increasing recognition and memory for young children.

The Wild Planet Hyper Dash level three is a memory game that includes different commands from the controller. Players may have to complete double strikes by getting two disks in order. Or, the command may be to get double reverse which will mean getting two disks in reverse order. The memory level increases in difficulty as players must find disks in an allotted time.

Wild Planet Hyper Dash's hardest level involves addition and subtraction. Players solve these problems and retrieve the disks that contain the answer to the problem. The problems can involve answers up to two digits and players must retrieve the disks in the order of the answer. When the disks are also hidden throughout a room, this involves both being able to solve a problem quickly, but also finding the appropriate disk or disks that have been hidden. - 30320
