Airsoft Guns - Check Them Out!

By Anthony Carter

Airsoft guns are typically 3mm or 4mm guns that shoot small rubber bb's. The bb's are forced out of the gun with high powered forced air. These guns are becoming a very popular part of many reenactments and hunting games that take place in wooded areas.

Reenactments of major battles from our history are a popular thing across America. These are large battle scenes that are put into action by men and women carrying out the acts of war that has happened in our past. The actors typically use Airsoft guns to portray the acts.

The Airsoft guns are very convincing looking. They are easily substituted during the reenactment of a battle and they defiantly help to make the experience a great one for those that come from miles around to witness it. They will surely be moved by the show.

Airsoft guns are also used in a new type of extreme sport. In this sport, a group of men and older boys get together to hunt for each other in a heavily wooded area. This is becoming more and more popular as time goes by.

While dressed in full camouflage outfits, a group of family and friends get together on the outskirts of a heavily wooded area and make their plans. They set the boundaries as far as where they can hide and then disperse.

After a certain amount of time goes by, the game begins. They all begin moving very stealthily through the woods and try to locate their opponents without first being found by them. Your opponents try to blend in but inevitably they will be found.

When one person finds another they are to sneak up on them and fire the air soft gun at their opponent. Once someone has been hit, they are out of the game. The last person standing is the winner.

Just because the Airsoft gun uses rubber bb's does not make it extremely safe. It is still a gun. If a person is hit with the bb's they will surely have a bruise to remind them that they were tagged. If a person was to get hit at close range, the bb may be powerful enough to break the skin.

The Airsoft guns are not toys. Sure, they do not have live ammunition in them but they should not be treated as anything less than any other gun. You should never allow a child of any age to play with or handle the Airsoft gun. If a teen boy or girl is allowed to operate the Airsoft gun, they should be heavily monitored while doing so.

If a person was to get shot in the eye with one of the rubber bb, it could leave permanent damage to the eye. It may not be able to break the skin unless it is shot extremely close up but if they bb hits an eye, even from a good distance away, the consequences could be very bad.

The Airsoft guns are a lot less deadly than a gun that operates with bullets. The reenactment of famous battles in our history would not be the same without them. The growing popularity of the Airsoft guns for gaming goes to show how great they truly are. - 30320
