A Walk Down Memory Lane: Through Old Star Wars Toys

By Ben Burr

There are plenty of Star Wars toys in existence today, because ever since the franchise got started in 1977, it has yet to slow down. It seems like every couple of years they release another film with great success. So, there are plenty of toys still on shelves in the store, but they don't really compare to having some great vintage Star Wars toys.

Star Wars might be a franchise with the largest fan base. There are so many people that have made it their life's hobby to collect, restore or locate these toy gems of the past. Star Wars has had an impact on so many people and for many, getting some of these toys again brings back some fond memories of saving the galaxy from the Empire as a child.

So now you should be concerning yourself with what you want to get. You see, if you are just trying to relive some of your favorite childhood memories, than it all depends on what your formerly favorite toys were. However, there are many collectors that seek out rare toys on a basis of what they would be worth. This might vastly change your list of sought after items.

I could go into a lot of detail concerning the collectibles. There are so many different internet sites that have devoted a good deal of time and effort to telling you what items are going to reel in some serious dough. You might start with these sites if resale is your primary focus, then a search of these sites could be quite helpful in your cause.

However, for the majority of us that are in it for the nostalgia of it all, read on. Some of us would just like to relive the climatic scenes such as the destruction of the Death Star or the epic light saber battle between Luke and Vader. But if you don't know where you can find these, you aren't going to be re-enacting this anytime soon.

Where do you go? The World Wide Web is a good place to start. If this is too easy, I recommend hitting up a series of yard and garage sales to see if they yield any results for you. You might also want to go to giant flea markets, as their displays are usually broken down into categories and it is easier to navigate. An easy but expensive route is through a trade show of Star Wars toys, but you will pay the full resale value.

Well, that might be a good start towards what you should know about vintage Star Wars toys. There are plenty out there just waiting for you to find them for much less than their actual resale value, so happy hunting! - 30320
