If you lived in a world of science fiction, and a super fast army jet went whizzing over your head, it might mean trouble. Or it might be Transformers Starscream. That would be even bigger trouble! Who is Starscream? It's time to find out!
The Transformers began as a Japanese toy line in the 1970s that the successful Hasbro toy company decided to purchase. This company had already sold great numbers of their G. I. Joe toys and wanted another follow-up winning product. Two writers were hired to make up and create the Transformers universe, and Hasbro soon had an amazingly long lived hit on their hands.
The universe that these two writers created is composed of a planet called Cybertron that is constantly being fought over by two forces. The good force is called the Autobots and is lead by Optimus Prime. The bad or evil force is called the Decepticons and is headed by Megatron. Alongside each leader are their best generals, and that's where we first meet the Transformers Starscream.
Starscream is a general in the Decepticon army and decidedly one of the best Decepticons, as he is much adored by fans. He has been a part of the subgroups of micro vehicles, seekers, pretenders, action masters, deluxe vehicles and the predacons. Fans can't get enough of Transformers Starscream and there are many reasons for this.
Starscream is a Rank Five member of Megatron's army, though many people think he should be Rank Nine. His function is that of Aerospace Commander, though he has also been an Air Commander and Air Warrior. As a member of the Transformers Starscream has had a very busy military career. Each different incursion of the toy line sees him doing similar things as he did in the last, and that is a comfort.
Megatron is a very evil robot with a very cruel mind when it comes to his enemies. For some reason, he allows Starscream to remain in his army, as one of his higher ranking generals, up until the point of outright betrayal. Transformers Starscream makes no bones about his ambitions to one day lead the Decepticons himself. And he and Megatron have many run-ins, both verbal and physical, over how things should be done. Starscream considers Megatron's strategies and tactics are antiquated, to say the least. The Transformers Starscream in any storyline always prefers guile and speed over brute force.
The Starscream robot is able to turn into jets of several types, all sleek and ready for battle. The few times he's had the chance, he has grabbed for the reins of the Decepticon army and held on as tightly as he could. Fate always has another plan for Transformers Starscream though. And most storylines with this robot honestly end with him hurtling through space and time, defeated, angry, and swearing vengeance! - 30320
